Life and career

Bowien started playing the piano at the age of 5 and studied classical music to become a professional opera singer (Baritone). After graduating in Hamburg-Germany he worked with the record labelPolydor writing advertising copies and created a repertoire of musical compositions. In 1959, Bowien started to discover new talents and produced records forPolydor with such artists asThe Monks andTony Sheridan, who was playing withThe Beatles (akaThe Beat Brothers).

Bowien is a multi-recipient of gold and platinum records and is best known for discovering new artists, composing music and producing records forOlivia Newton-John,Daliah Lavi,The Monks andGeorges Moustaki. He produced such Musicals asCats,Phantom of the Opera,Les Miserable,A Chorus Line andMozart.
