Jennifer C. Daskal (born 1972) is a professor of law and faculty director of the Tech, Law, Security Program at theWashington College of Law atAmerican University inWashington, D.C.[1] Her work focuses on terrorism, national security, and criminal law.

She previously served as senior counsel forHuman Rights Watch, where she focused on similar issues.[2][3] She also worked in theU.S. Department of Justice during theObama administration, which was seeking to prosecute terror suspects through the criminal justice system instead of through military tribunals.[4][5]
Career
editA graduate ofHarvard Law School, theUniversity of Cambridge, andBrown University and aMarshall Scholar,[6][7] Daskal garnered attention after traveling to the countries to whichGuantanamo detainees had been released to verify that those countries were abiding by the undertakings they made to theU.S. federal government to respect the returned detainees' human rights.[8]
Daskal is a professor of law atAmerican University.[6][9]
In April 2022, Daskal was announced as a member of theDisinformation Governance Board for theU.S. Department of Homeland Security.[10]
