Hussein Kulmiye Afrah (Somali:Xuseen Kulmiye Afrax,Arabic:أفراح حسين) (1920 – 1993)[1][2] was theVice President of Somalia during the era ofSiad Barre, serving from 1972 to 1990.[3] He was also a member of theSupreme Revolutionary Council and served as theMinister of Interior from 1971 to 1974.[4]

Post Civil War
editFollowing the outbreak of theSomali Civil War in the late 1980s, and after the armed opposition groups overthrew the Barre government in 1991, Kulmiye, along with otherHawiye officers, was neither arrested nor expelled from Mogadishu.[5]
