The portion of the inferiorfrontal lobe immediately adjacent to thelongitudinal fissure (and medial to themedial orbital gyrus andolfactory tract) is named thestraight gyrus,(orgyrus rectus) and is continuous with thesuperior frontal gyrus on the medial surface.
A specific function for the straight gyrus has not yet been brought to light; however, in males, greater activation of the straight gyrus within themedial orbitofrontal cortex while observingsexually visual pictures has been strongly linked to HSDD (hypoactive sexual desire disorder).[1]
