National Road 44 (Greek:Εθνική Οδός 44, abbreviated asEO44) is asingle carriageway road in centralGreece. It connectsThebes withKarystos on southernEuboea, viaChalcis andEretria. The total length of the GR-44 is nearly 160 km. The highway lies in the regional units ofBoeotia andEuboea.

editThe west end of the GR-44 is in downtown Thebes, where it connects with theGR-3. It crosses theA1 motorway east of Thebes, and runs north toChalcis. At Chalcis it crosses theEuripus Strait, and enters the island ofEuboea. TheGR-77 towards northern Euboea branches off. The GR-44 continues to the southeastern part of the island, passing along the south coast through the townsEretria,Amarynthos andAliveri. Beyond Aliveri it leaves the coast, and it runs south throughStyra, ending in Karystos.
