Nickerson was selected in the second round (34th overall) of the1994 NBA draft by theAtlanta Hawks. He split the1996–97 NBA season with theSan Antonio Spurs and theWashington Bullets, playing just four games. Nickerson was also selected in the second round of the 1994Continental Basketball Association (CBA) Draft. He won aCBA championship with theOklahoma City Cavalry in 1997.[1] He was selected as theCBA Newcomer of the Year in 1996 and named to the All-CBA First Team in 1997.[2] He led the league in scoring in 1996–97, averaging 22.5 points per game while with the Cavalry.[3]
