TheEnvironment Council (ENVI) is a configuration of theCouncil of the European Union.[1] It meets about four times a year. It brings together theenvironment ministers and is responsible for theEU environment policy.[2]

This Council deals withenvironmental protection, climate change, prudent use of resources and protection of human health.[3]

In this regard, the Council adopts legislation together with theEuropean Parliament in relation to:

The council can deal with international issues which go far beyond the borders of the European Union, for example theOpen Coalition on Compliance Carbon Markets.[4]
