Ediciones B is a Spanish publisher, which currently operates as a division ofPenguin Random House. Ediciones B is headquartered in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; with branches throughout Latin America. It was founded in 1910 byJuan Bruguera Teixidó under the name El Gato Negro and specialising in popular literature, joke books and especially in comic magazines.[1] They followed the example of the Spanish comic magazineTBO (founded in 1917) and in 1921, they createdPulgarcito which proved very successful. They published another twenty magazines includingCharlot (1928) with content ofFilm Fun.
It came to possess, as indicated byJesús Cuadrado:

Many works byMaria Dolores Acevedo, a Galician romance and western writer, were published byEditorial Bruguera between 1956 and 1974.[4]
In the field ofcomics, the role played by the Editorial Bruguera after theSpanish Civil War was fundamental, especially its humor publications. Directed byRafael González Martínez, the Editorial Bruguera cartoonists created an easily recognisable style (called "Escuela Bruguera") that was halfway between children's entertainment and a satire of manners.
