Douglas Petrie is an Americanscreenwriter,director, andproducer. Best known as a writer, director, and co-executive producer onBuffy the Vampire Slayer. He co-wrote the screenplays for theFantastic Four film andHarriet the Spy. He has also written for the television showsAngel,The 4400,Tru Calling andAmerican Horror Story: Coven. He served as a co-executive producer and writer for two seasons onCSI: Crime Scene Investigation and as a consulting producer and writer on the second season ofPushing Daisies.[1] He made a cameo onJoss Whedon's web-based film,Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, as "Professor Normal". He served as co-executive producer on thefirst season of theNetflix showDaredevil, and took over asshowrunner for itssecond season alongsideMarco Ramirez.[2] In April 2016 Petrie and Ramirez were announced as showrunners ofThe Defenders, a miniseries thatcrosses overDaredevil,Jessica Jones,Luke Cage, andIron Fist.[3]

editPetrie earned his Bachelor of Arts in English fromWilliam & Mary in 1985.
