Club career

Clodoaldo spent most of his career atSantos, with whom he had won fiveCampeonato Paulista, as well as aCampeonato Brasileiro Série A and the1968 Intercontinental Supercup.[2]

He suffered a career-threatening knee injury when he is 29 years old,[3] and as a result, he left Santos in 1979 to joinNASL teamTampa Bay Rowdies. He returned to Brazil after a single season in theUnited States, joiningNacional-AM.[3][4]

International career

Clodoaldo was capped 38 times withBrazil between 1969 and 1974.[4] He was part of the Brazil squad that won the1970 FIFA World Cup, and scored the equalising goal in the semi-final against Uruguay. He then memorably contributed to the famous goal byCarlos Alberto Torres against Italy in the final by dribbling past four of the opposition's players in his own half.[1]

Managerial career

Clodoaldo briefly coached Santos after he retired in 1982.[2] In 2010, he became the manager of theEast Timor national team, but left the position after three matches due family reasons.[5]
