Chula Vista Futbol Club is an Americansoccer club based inChula Vista, California. The club's first team competes inNISA Nation.
Chula Vista FC was originally established as a youth soccer organization and added a senior team in 2011. The club's stated goal for the senior team is to provide a bridge between youth and professional soccer for players not in thecollege soccer system.[1] Notable players that went through the CVFC youth soccer system includeAlejandro Guido,Paul Arriola,Joe Corona,Gabriel Farfan andMichael Farfan.[2] CVFC has played against other crosstown teams losing 3-1 in a friendly withNorth County Battalion and beating their rivalAlbion SC Pros 3-2.[3][4] Chula Vista FC aims to eventually have a team for all the United States Soccer Development academy ages and possibly move up to theNASL orUSL.[5]
The club gained a measure of national acclaim for its performances in the2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup which included a road win overArizona United SC, a professional club from theUnited Soccer League.[6] CVFC was eliminated in thesecond qualifying round of the2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in a 4-0 loss againstLa Máquina FC at home.[7]
On August 25, 2021, the club was announced as a founding member ofNISA Nation, a fourth-tier league, for its inaugural2021 season.[8]
On September 22, 2019, Chula Vista FC faced city rivalsRebels Soccer Club in a Chula Vista Derby in thefirst qualifying round of the2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Chula Vista FC drawing 2-2 and won 5-3 onpenalties.[9]
Chula Vista FC II, CVFC reserve team, currently plays in theSoCal Premier League as part of theSWPL.
