Careening Cove, is a bay on the northern side ofSydney Harbour, nearMilsons Point.[1] The cove lies in the traditional lands of theCammeraygal people, who called itWia Wia. Its English name comes from the early days of European settlement inAustralia, when the cove was used incareening - when a ship is tipped or rolled on its side to clean the keel and hull.[2]
