
TheBoston Atlas (1832–1857) newspaper ofBoston,Massachusetts, was published in daily and semi-weekly editions in the mid-19th century.[1] John H. Eastburn established the paper in 1832.[2][3] Editors includedRichard Hildreth, Richard Haughton, William Hayden,Thomas M. Brewer, William Schouler, R. Carter.[2] Among the contributors:Joseph Carter Abbott,Benjamin Perley Poore,Samuel F. Tappan. Its office stood at no.18State Street and later in theOld State House.[4][5][6] The paper supported theWhig Party.[2] Its Democratic rival, with which it sparred constantly, wasThe Boston Post.[7] In 1857 theBoston Traveller absorbedThe Atlas.[8]
