Beth McCarthy-Miller (born September 3, 1963) is an American television director.[1] Shows she has directed includeSaturday Night Live and30 Rock.[2]

Early and personal life
editMcCarthy-Miller was born on September 3, 1963, inElizabeth,New Jersey. She has four older brothers and four older sisters.[3] She was raised inCranford, New Jersey.[4] She attended theUniversity of Maryland, where she was a DJ and majored in radio, television and film. While in college she interned atCNN andMTV.[5]
She is married to a high school teacher, with whom she has a son born around 2006.[6]
Career
editMcCarthy-Miller worked as a line producer's assistant and assistant director at MTV and began directing in 1988. During her nine years with MTV, she worked onMTV Unplugged withNirvana,Neil Young,Elton John,Tony Bennett, andk.d. lang.[7] She worked forThe Week in Rock and laterThe Jon Stewart Show.[5]
She was the director ofNBC'sSaturday Night Live for eleven years.[8] She leftSNL in 2006 at the end of season 31, replaced as director byDon Roy King.[9] She became a director forViacom'sMTV again in 2003 when she directed theMTV Video Music Awards.
She currently works through her own companies, Catalyst Entertainment and McBeth Productions as a director and producer.[citation needed]
