Barakāt ibn ʿUmar Dīn (Arabic:بركات بن عمر الدين), (reigned 1555–1559), was the nominalSultan of theAdal Sultanate in theHorn of Africa. A son ofUmar Din (r. 1526–1553) and a brother ofAli ibn Umar Din (r. 1553–1555), he was the last known member of theWalashma dynasty to ruleAdal.[1]

In 1555, Barakat and Ali Jamal ibn al-Imam Ahmad led an army intoDawaro with the intent of taking it from theEthiopians. However, he was defeated by the Governor ofDawaro. WhenNur ibn Mujahid invaded the Ethiopian Empire in 1559, sultan Barakat heldHarar against the army ofHamalmal, who had been sent there by his cousin,EmperorGelawdewos.Dejazmatch Hamalmal andRas Fasil killed him and sacked the city.[2][3]
