TheBambouk Mountains are amountain range in westernMali, near its border withSenegal.[1][2] They were once a major centre forgold mining, selling the metal toArab traders as early as the 12th century. Mali is currently the third largest producer of gold inAfrica because it still mines the mountain range's now significantly diminished deposits.
