Arjan Bajwa

Arjan Bajwa (born 3 September 1979) is an Indian actor known for his work inHindi andTelugu films. He is credited asDeepak in Telugu cinema, where he began his career, making his lead debut withSampangi (2001).[1] He transitioned to Hindi films withWoh Tera Naam Tha (2004) and gained recognition for supporting roles inBhadra (2005),Guru (2007),Fashion (2008), andArundhati (2009).[2] He has also appeared in web series, includingState of Siege: 26/11 (2020) andBestseller (2022).

Early life

Bajwa was born on 3 September 1979 inDelhi, India in aJat Sikh family.[3][4][5] His fatherSwinderjeet Singh Bajwa was a former deputy Mayor ofDelhi from theBharatiya Janata Party (BJP).[6][7] Bajwa holds a degree in architecture from Delhi and is a black belt inTaekwondo.[8]

Before entering films Bajwa was a successful model having walked the ramp for several big fashion designers.[9]

Career

Bajwa made his Telugu debut withSampangi (2001) and played the lead in a couple of Telugu films includingPremalo Pavani Kalyan (2002).[10][11] After making his Hindi debut inWoh Tera Naam Tha, Bajwa's breakthrough role came in Hindi cinema, with directorMani Ratnam's critically acclaimed film,Guru.[12] Subsequently, he played the male lead inMadhur Bhandarkar’sFashion. Bajwa also starred in the Telugu moviesKing andArundhati.[13]

Bajwa then appeared inAjay Devgn's action comedy filmSon of Sardaar, where he playedSonakshi Sinha's boyfriend.[14] He also acted in the action thrillerCrook (2010) andBobby Jasoos (2014).[15][16] He has appeared in the filmRustom (2016). In 2019, he was seen inSandeep Vanga'sKabir Singh where he playedShahid Kapoor's brother. He was initially hesitant to play the male lead's older brother, but accepted at the insistence of Vanga, for whom he was the only choice to play the character.[17]

In 2023, Bajwa shot a song for his unreleased filmLucky One Gets a Second Chance alongside Myra Sareen,Tanishaa Mukerji andIulia Vântur.[18]
