The2013 Food City 250 was the 23rdstock car race of the2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series and the 32nd iteration of theevent. The race was held on Friday, August 23, 2013, inBristol, Tennessee, atBristol Motor Speedway, a 0.533 miles (0.858 km) permanent oval-shaped racetrack. The race took the scheduled 250 laps to complete. At race's end,Kyle Busch, driving forJoe Gibbs Racing, would dominate the race to win his 60th careerNASCAR Nationwide Series win and his ninth win of the season.^[1] To fill out the podium,Brad Keselowski ofPenske Racing andAustin Dillon ofRichard Childress Racing would finish second and third, respectively.

TheBristol Motor Speedway, formerly known asBristol International Raceway andBristol Raceway, is aNASCARshort track venue located inBristol, Tennessee. Constructed in 1960, it held its first NASCAR race on July 30, 1961. Despite its short length, Bristol is among the most popular tracks on the NASCAR schedule because of its distinct features, which include extraordinarily steep banking, an all concrete surface, twopit roads, andstadium-like seating. It has also been named one of the loudest NASCAR tracks.

The only two-hour and 50-minute practice session was held on Friday, August 23, at 9:00 AMEST.^[2]Brian Scott ofRichard Childress Racing would set the fastest time in the session, with a lap of 15.541 and an average speed of 123.467 miles per hour (198.701 km/h).^[3]

Qualifying was held on Friday, August 23, at 3:40 PMEST. Each driver would have two laps to set a fastest time; the fastest of the two would count as their official qualifying lap.^[2]

Kyle Busch ofJoe Gibbs Racing would win the pole, setting a time of 15.354 and an average speed of 124.971 miles per hour (201.121 km/h).^[4]
