Our work protects people from harmful chemicals. We do this by collecting information about chemicals used in the EU, for example in consumer products or at the workplace, evaluating the data, and proposing which chemicals need to be regulated at EU level to keep you safe.
Chemicals play a critical role in solving medical challenges, but they can also cause serious health problems such as allergies, hormonal imbalances, and cancer. We collect information on chemicals on the EU market to help identify potential health hazards and develop appropriate measures to protect you.
Worker protection
We help ensure that workers are protected from hazardous chemicals in the workplace. We do this by giving scientific opinions on the harmonised classification and labelling for chemicals and occupational exposure limits. Our goal is to help ensure that workers are safe from chemical hazards while performing their jobs.
