
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Aug. 27, 2025) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Wednesday welcomed the outcome of an extraordinary border committee meeting with Thailand, calling it an important step toward preserving peace and strengthening bilateral ties.
The talks, hosted by Thailand, brought together senior military officials from both countries. Cambodia was represented by Lt. Gen. Pov Heng, commander of the 4th Military Region, while Thailand was led by Lt. Gen. Boonsin Padklang, commander of the 2nd Army Area.
The meeting, held from 11 a.m. to 11:53 a.m., focused on preventing armed clashes and improving communication between military regions, army areas and border units.
In a statement, Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said both sides agreed to resolve disputes peacefully, strengthen relations at all levels and build trust to promote good neighborliness.
Hun Manet praised the progress, saying the agreements reflect the shared determination of Cambodia and Thailand to maintain border stability and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
