An active stage actor in the Fort Worth area theater, he was the founder of Fort Worth's Stage West theater in 1979, and was producing director for many years. He was the father of Texas state senatorWendy Davis. He died early in the morning of September 5, 2013 due to pneumonia he contracted after an emergency abdominal surgery. He was 77.
