TheFlying Carpet is a recurring item and mode of transportation in theDragon Quest series. The carpet is used as an item from the menu to in order to ride it (unlike theship). The Flying Carpet is able to fly overland, swamps, deserts, and bodies of water, but is unable to fly high enough to glide over mountains and can be cumbersome to use in forested areas. No random enemyencounters occur while riding the Magic Carpet. Since it can fly over the rocky shoals, the carpet is necessary to reach areas such as theStairway to Zenithia and theNeverglade.
