Holy Protection is a spell in theDragon Quest series.
It repels weaker enemies, checking the player's current level to calculate which enemies are kept at bay.
Regardless of which game is being played, the spell will last for exactly 128 steps.

The spell is learned at level 15, and costs 2MP to cast.
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit]
Learned by thePrincess of Moonbrooke at level 8, and still costs 2MP.
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]
Learned by theHero at level 19, and requires 4MP to cast.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]
Holy Protection is learned by the Hero at level 20 if his or her wisdom exceeds 65 points.
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]
Holy Protection is available to theHero at level 12 and is already known by the9th Chosen One upon joining.

This spell is granted at the first rank of theRanger vocation.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
Repel is learned by advancing to rank 5 of theBard class. In the3DS version, Holy Protection is learned at rank 7 of theThief vocation.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
Eight learns this spell after investing 40 points into his "Courage" skill.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]
Holy protection doesn't appear inIX, but the effect can be emulated with holy water and theVanish skill.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
TheLuminary will learn the spell for 8 points in hisLuminary skill tree. It costs 2MP to cast, and will ward offmonsters for 30 seconds. The spell's calculation is slightly tweaked, raising theLuminary's level by 10 when frightening foes.
