Parasitic on living leaves.Sexual morph:Ascomata superficial, solitary to gregarious, seated on a subiculum, globose to subglobose, obovoid, brown, with apical ostiole.Peridium relatively thick-walled, comprising dark brown cells oftextura angularis.Hamatheciumcomprising branched, septate, anastomosed, hyaline, pseudoparaphyses.Asci8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, broadly ellipsoid, with short pedicel, apically thickened, with an ocular chamber.Ascospores 2–3- seriate, ellipsoidal-oblong or fusiform, slightly curved and tapering toward the ends, uniseptate hyaline, sometimes pale-yellow brown, with granulate cells, smooth-walled.Asexual morph: Unknown (Kirk et al. 2008, Seifert et al. 2011).
Type species:Perisporiopsis struthanthiHenn.
Notes:Perisporiopsis is characterised by oval to ellipsoid, obovoid-clavate, aseptate ascospores and a conspicuous sporodochial asexual morph.Boonmee et al. (2017) placedPerisporiopsis inPerisporiopsidaceae based on its parasitic lifestyle and morphological study. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the systematic position ofPerisporiopsis.
