CUBIC is an extension to the current TCP standards. It differs fromthe current TCP standards only in the congestion control algorithm onthe sender side. In particular, it uses a cubic function instead ofa linear window increase function of the current TCP standards toimprove scalability and stability under fast and long-distancenetworks. CUBIC and its predecessor algorithm have been adopted asdefaults by Linux and have been used for many years. This documentprovides a specification of CUBIC to enable third-partyimplementations and to solicit community feedback throughexperimentation on the performance of CUBIC.
