Spectroscopic evidence for starspots in the G dwarf HD1835.

Abstract

High signal-to-noise ratio spectra of HD 1835 (G2 V) reveal very weak lines of titanium oxide and calcium hydride. The authors show that these are unlikely to come from an M dwarf companion. The molecular lines probably originate in starspot umbrae, which cover about 3% of the stellar surface.
