MulticopySUP35 gene induces de-novo appearance ofpsi-like factors in the yeastSaccharomyces cerevisiae

Abstract

Previously, we have shown that plasmid-mediated multiplication ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae wild-typeSUP35 gene leads to omnipotent suppression and is incompatible withpsi-factor, which is an endogenous extrachromosomal suppressor. Here, we describe a frequent de-novo appearance ofpsi-like factors in mitotic progeny of yeast transformants containing multicopySUP35 gene.
