Package java.util.regex Description

Classes for matching character sequences against patterns specified by regularexpressions.

An instance of thePattern class represents aregular expression that is specified in string form in a syntax similar tothat used by Perl.

Instances of theMatcher class are used to matchcharacter sequences against a given pattern. Input is provided to matchers viatheCharSequence interface in order to support matchingagainst characters from a wide variety of input sources.

Unless otherwise noted, passing anull argument to a methodin any class or interface in this package will cause aNullPointerException to be thrown.
