Reporting abuse or spam
You can report behavior and content that violates community guidelines and terms.
Who can use this feature?
Owners, collaborators, prior contributors, and people with write access can report issues, pull requests, discussions, and comments on issues, pull requests, discussions, and commits. Anyone can report apps in GitHub Marketplace.

GitHub provides a baseline code of conduct for everyone who uses GitHub. For more information, seeGitHub Terms of Service andGitHub Community Guidelines.
You can report users that have violated GitHub's Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. You can also report issues, pull requests, or comments on issues, pull requests, and commits.
If reported content is enabled for a public repository, you can also report content directly to repository maintainers.
Reporting a user
Visit the user's profile page.
In the left sidebar, below the user's profile information, clickBlock or Report.
ClickReport abuse.
Complete the contact form to tell GitHub Support about the user's behavior, then clickSubmit.
Reporting an organization
- On GitHub, navigate to the main page of the organization.
- In the right sidebar, under the "Top languages" section, clickReport abuse.
- Complete the contact form to tell GitHub Support about the organization's behavior, then clickSubmit.
Reporting a repository
- On GitHub, navigate to the main page of the repository.
- In the right sidebar, under the "About" section, clickReport repository.
- Complete the contact form to tell GitHub Support about the repository's behavior, then clickSubmit.
Reporting an issue or pull request
Navigate to the issue or pull request you'd like to report.
In the upper-right corner of the issue or pull request, click, then clickReport content.
You may see options toReport to repository admins orReport abuse to GitHub Support. If not, skip to the next step.
- To report the content to GitHub Support, clickReport abuse to GitHub Support.
- To report the content to repository maintainers, use theChoose a reason dropdown to select a reason, then clickReport to repository admins. Your report has been submitted.
Complete the "Report content" form, then clickSend request.
Reporting a discussion
Navigate to the discussion you'd like to report.
In the upper-right corner of the discussion, click, then clickReport content.
Select an email address and a category, then clickSend request.
Reporting a comment
Navigate to the comment you'd like to report.
In the upper-right corner of the comment, click, then clickReport content.
You may see options toReport to repository admins orReport abuse to GitHub Support. If not, skip to the next step.
- To report the content to GitHub Support, clickReport abuse to GitHub Support.
- To report the content to repository maintainers, use theChoose a reason dropdown to select a reason, then clickReport to repository admins. Your report has been submitted.
Complete the "Report content" form, then clickSend request.
Reporting an app in GitHub Marketplace
To open GitHub Marketplace, in the top-left corner of GitHub, select, then click Marketplace.
Browse to the app you'd like to report.
In the left sidebar, under the "Developer links" section, clickReport abuse.
Complete the contact form to tell GitHub Support about the app's behavior, then clickSend request.
Reporting contact link abuse in the template chooser
- Navigate to the repository that contains the contact link you'd like to report.
- Under the repository name, click Issues.
- In the lower-right corner of the template chooser, clickReport abuse.
- Complete the contact form to tell GitHub Support about the contact link's behavior, then clickSend request.

- In order to get accurate information about the abuse, the abuse report form will direct you to use the in-product abuse report links. If an in-product link is not available, contact us through theGitHub Support portal to report abuse or report content.
