"Lights! Camera! Chaos!" is the eighteenth episode ofMonsters at Work. It premiered onApril 27,2024, and is the eighth episode of the second season.

Synopsis[]

When news anchors Jack and Jill visitMonsters, Inc., for an interview, Mike and Sulley hope to show off laugh power to all ofMonstropolis.

Plot[]

Jack and Jill show up at Monsters, Inc. to do a live taping of their coverage for laugh power. Meanwhile, MIFT is congratulating Val for accepting the Jokester offer. Cutter angrily enters declaring that she quits because she cannot figure out what is causing the canisters to leak. They are also confused about where Roger is until they suddenly get a message to go up to the laugh floor. It turns out that someone has vandalized the place. With Jack and Jill coming, Celia has Sulley and Mike try to stall Jack and Jill while they clean up the floor.

While cleaning, Tylor spots Roger looking very suspicious and notices that he has red paint on his hands. He drags Val to come with him as they follow him throughout the facility. Duncan sees the spray cans have come from Tylor's hardware store and also becomes suspicious. Tylor and Val overhear Roger arguing with someone over the phone and decide to take a peek into his work file, becoming shocked by what they see. The Monsters team hastily cover the walls with doors and canisters to hide graffiti from Jack and Jill. Just as things seem fine, Mike accidentally knocks over a canister, revealing the vandalism.

Tylor comes in and announces that the vandal was Roger Rogers, whose real name is actually Henry J. Waternoose IV, exposing his secret to all Monstropolis. While Roger confirms that he is indeed the son of Henry J. Waternoose III, he is not responsible for the vandalism. Sulley takes everyone to his office where he reveals that he and Mike knew that Roger was Waternoose's son this whole time and that they didn't want to judge him for his father's crimes. All the photos that Roger was taking were for Mike's benefit: to remind him of why he loves the company and to remember everyone's names. Roger explains that the person he was talking to on the phone earlier was his father, whom Roger believed had hired someone to vandalize Monsters Inc, and feared that he would be blamed for it. While being scolded for his accusations against Rogers, an angry Tylor accuses Sulley of being a bad judge of character. Sulley is upset by this remark, but he defends Rogers by saying that he's nothing like his father. He also becomes shocked to find that his picture from Boo is missing. Duncan comes in and reveals that he searched Tylor's locker and discover that it is full of the missing items, including the master key and Boo's picture.

Tylor claims innocence (which he is), but admits that he had dinner with Johnny Worthington and that he turned down his job offer. When he tries to get Val to corroborate his story, she admits that while he told her he turned it down, she always suspected that he wanted to take it. Furious and betrayed, Tylor severs ties with everyone, resigns from the company and Val assumes her new position as a Jokester. Later, Johnny gets a call from Tylor as he is about to leave work, seemingly ready to accept his offer.
