Lauren Hunter MacMullan is an American storyboard artist, writer, director, and producer atWalt Disney Animation Studios and a former member of thePixar team.
MacMullan joined Pixar Animation Studios in2009 to work on the featureNewt, which was soon cancelled. She then moved to the Disney studio and became a storyboard artist onWreck-It Ralph. While working on the film, her friend and formerThe Simpsons colleagueRich Moore told her that Disney was looking for newMickey Mouse ideas for television.
Since she was always fascinated with the late 1920s/early 1930s era Mickey shorts, she conceived and directed the theatrical shortGet A Horse!, which earned her an Academy Award nomination.
Prior to joining Disney, she worked as a director on numerous non-Disney animated TV series, includingThe Critic,King of the Hill,The Simpsons, andAvatar: The Last Airbender. She was also the supervising director and designer for the seriesMission Hill and was a sequence director on the animated featureThe Simpsons Movie.
