Synopsis[]

Jared Smith, a new kid, comes toThird Street and isn't as average as the gang hopes when he is better than all the students at the things they are good at.

Plot[]

Gus is giving a report on why he is special. When he comes to the conclusion that he has been to 12 different schools, a new student by the name of Jared Smith arrives and reveals that he has been to 38 schools. Things continue on, but when Gretchen fails to answer a complex math problem, Jared manages to solve it easily, much to Gretchen's chagrin. For the rest of the day, Jared, rather reluctantly, manages to be better at sports than Vince, beat Spinelli at arm wrestling and make a better poem than Mikey. As a matter of fact, he is better than any other kid at school such as surpassing the Diggers' digging abilities and outdoing Swinger Girl. T.J. finally joins when Jared makes a better plan than him.

The students all collectively decide to work against Jared by performing a "lockout", something the kids have not done in a long time. When Jared shows up the next day, all the kids proceed to ignore him. When he realizes what is happening, he congratulates them on doing something "original" as every school he has been to, the students avoid him for being "perfect". He points out that each of them challenged him to do what they do and he tried to avoid them. Realizing that they are ignoring him for their own hubris, the kids apologize with Tubby, whom Jared had initially outburped, returning with a bigger burp. The next day, Jared is unfortunately called away to give advice to the president via a fighter jet.

Trivia[]
