What cute people say when they are pissed off
“Oh Drat, i lost my wallet”
The R package ecosystem is one of the cornerstones of the successseen by R. As of July 2020, over 16000 packages are onCRAN, with about one thousand moreatBioConductor.
Support for multiple repositories is built deeply into R; mostly viathe (default) packageutils. Theupdate.packagesfunction (along with several others from theutils package)can be used with ease for these three default repositories as well asmany others. But it seemed that support forsimple creation anduse of local repositories was missing.
Drat triesto help here and supports two principal modes:
gh-pagesPlease see the next section about how to get started, the packagedocumentation, thedrat packagepage or theblog section ondrat for more.
See the vignettes
for the FAQ, two principal uses cases, basic motivation and anoverview / introduction. The package documentation provides moredetails. Thedratpackage page has a longer tutorial, and theblog section ondrat has even more.
You can install the package fromCRAN via the standard
install.packages("drat")or alternatively, you can also do
install.packages("drat",repos="https://eddelbuettel.github.io/drat")to install directly from the drat repository.
The package has been available fromCRAN since the Spring of 2015 andstarting to get some use. Possible improvements, additions and nextsteps are listed in theTODO.mdfile.
A few drat repositories are starting to appear (besides this one). Anincomplete list (looking at the direct forks as well as GitHubsearch):
