Manage language settings
You can useSettings to configurelanguage settings for an account, which sets the language to display Gmail in.

Display language
As noted in theSettings reference,the format of display languages in theget andupdate languagesettings methods is theRFC 3066 Language Tag format.
Not all Gmail clients can display the same set of languages.In the case that a user's display language is not available for use on aparticular client, said client automatically chooses to display in the closestsupported variant (or a reasonable default).
The set of languages supported by Gmail evolves over time, so please refer tothe "Language" dropdown in theGmail settingsfor all available options, as described in thelanguage settings help article.
