Solar API coverage

The Solar API provides solar data for hundreds of millions of buildingsacross the world.Imageryqualitycan beHIGH,MEDIUM,BASE.

  • HIGH: Solar data is derived from aerial imagery captured atlow-altitude and processed at 0.1 m/pixel.
  • MEDIUM: Solar data is derived from enhanced aerial imagery captured athigh-altitude and processed at 0.25 m/pixel.
  • BASE: Solar data is derived from enhanced satelliteimagery processed at 0.25 m/pixel.

The Google Maps Platform team is constantly working to improve coverage for ourAPI services. This interactive map shows whereHIGH,MEDIUM, andBASEquality solar data is available.

Note: To accessBASE(Experimental) quality solar data, setexperiments=EXPANDED_COVERAGE in the request body. To learn more aboutrequestingBASE quality data, seeExpanded Coverage(Experimental).

Latitude and longitude coordinates can be obtained using other Google MapsPlatform APIs, such as theGeocoding API or thePlaces API. Coordinates can also beextracted from maps created using theMaps JavascriptAPI. For example, seeGetting Lat/Lng from aClick Event.

Note: The data shown here is anapproximation of the exact coverage. You mayencounter a 404 error in certain areas (for example, near country borders) evenwhen the area appears to be covered on the map. For information oncoverage updates, see the Solar APIReleaseNotes.
