Disabling the Default UI

  • This example demonstrates how to create a Google Map with all default UI controls disabled, such as zoom controls and the Street View icon.

  • The map is initialized using thedisableDefaultUI: true option within the map options.

  • Sample code is provided in both TypeScript and JavaScript, along with accompanying HTML and CSS for styling and structure.

  • Users can interact with the example through provided links for JSFiddle.net and Google Cloud Shell or clone the sample using Git and Node.js for local execution.

This example creates a map with the default UI controls disabled (for example,it has no zoom controls or Street View icon).

Read thedocumentation.

TypeScript

functioninitMap():void{constmap=newgoogle.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map")asHTMLElement,{zoom:4,center:{lat:-33,lng:151},disableDefaultUI:true,});}declareglobal{interfaceWindow{initMap:()=>void;}}window.initMap=initMap;
Note: Read theguide on using TypeScript and Google Maps.

JavaScript

functioninitMap(){constmap=newgoogle.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"),{zoom:4,center:{lat:-33,lng:151},disableDefaultUI:true,});}window.initMap=initMap;
Note: The JavaScript is compiled from the TypeScript snippet.

CSS

HTML

<html> <head> <title>Disabling the Default UI</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./style.css" /> <script type="module" src="./index.js"></script> </head> <body> <div></div> <!-- The `defer` attribute causes the script to execute after the full HTML document has been parsed. For non-blocking uses, avoiding race conditions, and consistent behavior across browsers, consider loading using Promises.
