Configure local codebase awareness

Specifying folders to use as context with Gemini Code Assistis a feature that is in preview. Products and features that are in preview areavailable "as is".

Local codebase awareness improves the relevance ofGemini Code Assist responses through indexing and supportingtechniques.

By default, local codebase awareness is enabled. To disable local codebaseawareness, perform the following tasks:

VS Code

  1. In your IDE, navigate toSettings >Extensions>Gemini Code Assist.

  2. Search for theLocal Codebase Awareness setting.

  3. Unselect the checkbox to disable local codebase awareness.

  4. Reload your IDE.

IntelliJ

Local codebase awareness configuration settings aren't supported inGemini Code Assist for IntelliJ and other JetBrains IDEs.
