: The Content Span element
Baseline Widely available
This feature is well established and works across many devices and browser versions. It’s been available across browsers since July 2015.
TheHTML element is a generic inline container for phrasing content, which does not inherently represent anything. It can be used to group elements for styling purposes (using theclass orid attributes), or because they share attribute values, such aslang. It should be used only when no other semantic element is appropriate. is very much like a
element, but
is ablock-level element whereas a is aninline-level element.
