Response: url property

Baseline Widely available

This feature is well established and works across many devices and browser versions. It’s been available across browsers since ⁨March 2017⁩.

Note: This feature is available inWeb Workers.

Theurl read-only property of theResponse interface contains the URL of the response.The value of theurl property will be the final URL obtained after any redirects.

Value

A string.

Examples

In ourFetch Response example (seeFetch Response live) we create a newRequest object using theRequest() constructor, passing it a JPG path.We then fetch this request usingfetch(), extract a blob from the response usingResponse.blob, create an object URL out of it usingURL.createObjectURL(), and display this in an<img>.

Note that at the top of thefetch() block we log the responseURL to the console.

js
const myImage = document.querySelector("img");const myRequest = new Request("flowers.jpg");fetch(myRequest)  .then((response) => {    console.log("response.url =", response.url); // response.url = https://mdn.github.io/dom-examples/fetch/fetch-response/flowers.jpg    return response.blob();  })  .then((myBlob) => {    const objectURL = URL.createObjectURL(myBlob);    myImage.src = objectURL;  });
