HTMLMediaElement: stalled event

Baseline Widely available

This feature is well established and works across many devices and browser versions. It’s been available across browsers since ⁨July 2015⁩.

Thestalled event is fired when the user agent is trying to fetch media data, but data is unexpectedly not forthcoming.

This event is not cancelable and does not bubble.

Syntax

Use the event name in methods likeaddEventListener(), or set an event handler property.

addEventListener("stalled", (event) => { })onstalled = (event) => { }

Event type

A genericEvent.

Examples

These examples add an event listener for the HTMLMediaElement'sstalled event, then post a message when that event handler has reacted to the event firing.

UsingaddEventListener():

const video = document.querySelector("video");video.addEventListener("stalled", (event) => {  console.log("Failed to fetch data, but trying.");});

Using theonstalled event handler property:

const video = document.querySelector("video");video.onstalled = (event) => {  console.log("Failed to fetch data, but trying.");};
