HTMLMediaElement: emptied event

Baseline Widely available

This feature is well established and works across many devices and browser versions. It’s been available across browsers since ⁨July 2015⁩.

Theemptied event is fired when the media has become empty; for example, this event is sent if the media has already been loaded (or partially loaded), and theload() method is called to reload it.

This event is not cancelable and does not bubble.

Syntax

Use the event name in methods likeaddEventListener(), or set an event handler property.

addEventListener("emptied", (event) => { })onemptied = (event) => { }

Event type

A genericEvent.

Examples

These examples add an event listener for the HTMLMediaElement'semptied event, then post a message when that event handler has reacted to the event firing.

UsingaddEventListener():

const video = document.querySelector("video");video.addEventListener("emptied", (event) => {  console.log("Uh oh. The media is empty. Did you call load()?");});

Using theonemptied event handler property:
