HTMLInputElement: select() method

This feature is well established and works across many devices and browser versions. It’s been available across browsers since July 2015.

TheHTMLInputElement.select() method selects all the textin a<textarea> element or in an<input> elementthat includes a text field.

Syntax

None.

Return value

None (undefined).

Examples

Click the button in this example to select all the text in the<input> element.

Notes

Callingelement.select() will not necessarily focus the input, so it isoften used withHTMLElement.focus.
