For theVALIS project I needed a geo to timezone service, specifically to pick up a reasonable time to send chat messages.

There are afew hosted services that can do that for you, but I believe that privacy is a feature, and I am not comfortable with sharing location data with 3rd party services.

A geo to timezone service is a simple service to implement, especially since the heavy stuff 💪 has been already implemented by better human beings 🙏 (the link above also lists the libraries).
