Euphoria fans are already in for a treat with two special episodes ahead of Season 2, butHBO Max just sweetened the deal even more — now, the first of two specials is getting a surprise early release. HBO Max announced today that the new Euphoriaspecial will be available to stream in an early late-night premiere this Friday, Dec. 4 at 12 AM ET, with a west coast premiere Thursday, Dec. 3 at 9/8c.

The special episode, which was previously scheduled for a Dec. 6 release, will still premiere on HBO on its original release date at 9/8c, and will be available to stream on HBO Max as well. Titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always,” the episode picks up after the events of the Season 1 finale and follows Rue (Zendaya) as she celebrates Christmas.

HBO released ateaser for the new episode earlier this week, giving us a sneak peek at Rue as she sits alone in a diner at night and thinks about Jules (Hunter Schafer), who left her at the train station when we last saw her. Just as Rue is getting lost in her memories, she’s interrupted by Ali (Colman Domingo), who is sitting across the booth from her. “Rue. Why’d you call me?” he asks.

The new episode, which was written and directed byEuphoriacreator Sam Levinson, will also feature Jules. HBO has not yet revealed the title or release date of the second Euphoria special episode, but they promise to the news is “forthcoming.”

The two specials come as Euphoria hits a pause in production on Season 2, which was halted earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. While HBO had planned to release a second season this year, Euphoria fans will have to wait until at least 2021 for the full second season to premiere. In the meantime, we’re lucky to be getting some special episodes — and even luckier to stream them as early as this Friday!
