Oliver Laxe’s Moroccan desert rave-set drama Sirāt, Mascha Schilinski’s critically acclaimed first featureSound of Falling and Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedyBugonialead the art and craft nominations for the 2026European Film Awards.
The films were each nominated in five of the eight categories, with Joachim Trier’sSentimental Valuefollowing behind with three nominations.
The arts and crafts nominations were voted on by the members of the European Film Academy’s dedicated department chapters, with all of its 5,400 members now voting to decide the winners.

In the previously announced non-art and craft nominations, Joachim Trier’s family dramaSentimental Value came out in pole position, picking up nominations for Best European Film, Director and Best Screenplay while co-stars Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgård have been nominated for Best European Actress and Actor, respectively.

The European Film Awards ceremony will take place on January 17 2026 at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Germany.
