Nov. 4, 2022 is a sticky weekend, so someone will movie as The Flash drops on a frame where Paramount has scheduled Mission: Impossible 8 and Disney and untitled event movie. Shazam! 2 is on a safe weekend, June 2, 2023, as it’s the only wide entry there currently.
In the meantime, WB is keepingFlash‘s old date of June 3, 2022 reserved, while newly RSVPing Aug. 5, 2022.
Wonder Woman 1984 stays on Christmas 2020, exhibitors. Amen.

Previous, 12:31PM:We’re hearing that Warner Bros. release ofLegendary‘s Dune is no longer going on Dec. 18, rather Oct. 1, 2021. Right now that’s the same release date as Matt Reeves’The Batman, so we have to figure Warners moves its relaunch of DC’s Dark Knight. The studio hasn’t officially re-dated The Batman yet.
Many in distribution land always believed it was too good to be true for Warners to keep two major tentpoles –one a franchise starter, the other a franchise sequel– within days of each other, given P&A spend, especially withWonder Woman 1984 still set for Christmas Day.
The news comes in the wake of Cineworld and Regal closing. Exhibitors were informed by the studio to push out Dune materials during Tenet‘s early September debut, which included a teaser trailer as well as the official trailer dropping for the Denis Villeneuve reboot of the Frank Herbert novel; the last version being in 1984, directed by David Lynch.
Villeneuve’s version of Dune stars Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgard, Javier Bardem and Charlotte Rampling among many others.
What’s left among wide releases in December now? 20th Century Studios’ Free Guy on Dec. 11, 20th’s Death on the Nile on Dec. 18, Coming 2 America from Paramount on that same date with Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas and Universal’s News of the World, followed by Screen Gems’ Escape Room 2 on Dec. 30. Still TBD is whether Sony puts in Constantin’s Monster Hunter in December, which is getting a release abroad in December.

Studios will buy the theaters and assume tehir liabilities. Big 5 studios act as a unit. And split profits. The indie studios would pay them.
They then broker releases amongat rhemselves and leave an alotted amounr of screens for the indies.
With amc and etc they pay a cut of screen revenue. Under this scheme they agree on a flat cut and have thresholds. Some fat accountant can create a formula.
As a billi disney film would pay more than an 80 million village roadhouse. Though the “fee” would be split between the big 5 or whatever owners. And the earnings after the theater “fee” would go to the respective studios.
There would be no mysteries as all know the wrap times and projected marketing window of the other. Hell, they could exchnage favors for screen dates. I.e. u give me valentines weekend and i will delay my easter window.
Plsu they split concessions. And better yet sell their toys in the aisles and at the front gate.
What a wonderful world where sony. Disney. Wb. Mgm. And whomever else. Control all the assets.
Plsu they get all the concession money. Split 5 ways. Wb does bad onr week and sony does good. Wb sees unearned money from their mutusl split. Vice a verse with sony.
The studios could then finance older venue upgrades to newer dolby and imax or whatever tech. As prior, those upgradee were at the expense of the theater owner. Thus charging customers more for thst better viewing experience.
The doenside is that smaller sites might get tanked as their capital cannot match. As the capital deployed for newer tech would be a 5 to 8 yr investment.
Split between 5 studios. With each dividing access and screenings perhaps based up how much their aite investment input was.
Sony u want iowa imax? U put up 65 percent.mgm u eant urban montana dolby? Etc etc. Though imagine nyc. Chicago. Dallas. Atlanta. La.
Think of it the grandest 200 million dollar theater opposite the staples center. Or garden. Or bulls arena. Or jerry world for the dallas cowboys. All of the studios have cash from tv, theme parks, electronics, toys, etc.
From a consumer point it could mean a fantasy viewing experience. But it could also mean 14 dollar hot dogs and bland corporate smells. Not to mention oled tvs on the lavatory walls. Streaming big studio trailers. All while neglecting the indies and mid shops.
Pat pat.

Wonder Woman 1984 will move to june 11th 2021.
Studios have no intention of cinemas getting fresh product if that means they make Tenet numbers, which they would.
The studios will survive much longer than the cinemas and they can either release their films digital or buy the theaters once they had to close.
We will see Warner & Disney movie chains in the future.
