ABC‘s fairytale drama seriesOnce Upon A Time will end with the current Season 7, Deadline has confirmed.
The show, created and executive produced by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, returns for the second half of its final season on March 2, and the finale will air in May, after more than 150 episodes.
Once Upon a Time went through a creative and casting revamp at the end of Season 6 when a number of original cast members left, and also relocated from its longtime Sunday home to the lower-trafficked Friday night this season. During the TCA winter press tour in January, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said she was “cautiously optimistic” about an eighth season, pending a meeting with Kitsis and Horowitz, but that was not to be.

Once Upon a Time was a breakout hit when it premiered in fall 2011, starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Robert Carlyle and Jared Gilmore, and featuring classic Disney fairytale characters. In addition to strong ratings early in its run,Once fit nicely in the Disney brand with corporate synergies and has been a solid international seller for producer ABC Studios because of the global recognition of its characters.
“’Once Upon a Time has been an amazing journey for all of us at ABC Studios and for fans around the world,” said Patrick Moran, president of ABC Studios. “We’re so proud and appreciative of the hard work and creative talent that Eddy Kitsis, Adam Horowitz and their cast and crew brought to this show for seven magical seasons.”

West, Gabrielle Anwar, Dania Ramirez, Alison Fernandez and Mekia Cox. Steve Pearlman and David H. Goodman also are executive producing.

We’re so grateful to our brilliant collaborators – the cast, crew, and writers — as well as our partners at the studio and network for making this journey possible. But most of all, we want to thank the fans. Their fierce loyalty and devotion was the real magic behind Once Upon A Time. We hope they join us for these last few hours as we journey to the Enchanted Forrest for one more adventure.”

I have enjoyed all seasons some episodes were kind of boring, but if you missed any, you could get lost. I liked how they have a new story line, yet still the sam e concept as the first few seasons. Thank you to each and every cast member I enjoyed all.

Not sure about all the haters posts. To me OUAT was just what we needed. I loved that you challenged us to look beyond the villains life to see their hearts. And to see that they can change! We need that message, especially in the climate we are living in today! To me the strategic mis-step was moving it from Sunday night to Friday. In short, thanks to all the cast and crew, I will miss this show. Rarely have I watched a show from start to finish, I did with Once! Best of luck to all of you.

If the haters stopped watching the show long ago, then why would they even care if it continued or not?Nobody is forcing them to watch it. They’re complaining about something they don’t have to do (watch).
I loved the show and was there from the beginning. Warts-and-all.

I am heartbroken and it’s a big loss to me and my brother. I wished it never ended and enjoyed every season. Just season 5 I didn’t like very much. Don’t like hook much but I love the chemistry between Emma and August and rather them to be married. Love Emma calling her son kid because that’s what my Mum calls me. I would love to write my own of once upon a time in my own way that’s my dream

I love this show! It’s my favorite show on TV. I love that it’s different. I agree with the others, I would love to see Emma back with Hook ( love those two together). Hook is my favorite. Please never lose him! Great for all the gals watching!!!! But I love all the characters. Great writing. I hope this show stays on for a very very long time!!! Thank you for such a good show.

Oh goodness, now I’m confused. I’m actually enjoying S7 and have watched every ep so far. Did I miss something? Emma & Hook are together, yeah? I remember it from the second episode. Did something happen that I missed? Thanks!

I will miss OUAT so much! I always looked forward to a new season, hated the long mid season break and waited for the release of the season on DVD. I always bought the season on the first day, watched the extras first, then the episodes. I’m sad it all ends with season 7!
