After kicking off the 2015-16 TV season with the two-hour CSI movie/finale,CBS again is opting for event programming in September. The network has slated its three-part, six-hour unscripted true-crime limited seriesCase Closed, revisiting the JonBenet Ramsey murder on its 20th anniversary, for the Sunday before the start of the season, the first Monday and the first Sunday of the fall season. CBS has football double headers on the two Sundays whenCase Closed airs, so the event series will help the network roll out its regular Sunday lineup on Oct. 2 as scheduled, without football-related delays. On its opening night, Case Closed will face the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast on ABC.
Beyond that, CBS is sticking to its regular fall launch pattern since acquiringThursday Night Football, with the bulk of the early fall lineup debuting during the traditional premiere week, except for the first Wednesday night of the season, which once again will be all-reality, featuring the supersized season premiere ofSurvivor and season finale ofBig Brother.

Interesting to see how CBS is carefully trying to debut each new series in the best possible time slot and light. That makes sense. I think one day we’ll look back at the fall 2016 CBS schedule, and see that the network was trying to develop their future comedy lineup in a post-TBBT world, whether that is the 2018-19 season, or a bit beyond.
But at some point, TBBT will no longer be around, and my hunch is CBS is betting that one of the following might be that next big ‘tent pole’ comedy: Kevin Can Wait, Man With a Plan, or The Great Indoors. If all three turn out to be failures (unlikely), CBS is in big trouble, and they know it. But my guess is at least one, maybe two, of the three go on to become the next foundation for comedy on the CBS schedule after TBBT is gone. If that is the case, CBS will be in a good position moving forward, both on the Primetime schedule and in the future revenue generating syndication market.
Man, i can’t believe the long way down to badness CBS went. It used to be one of my favorite networks, now don’t even care about them. Only Criminal Minds and Hawaii is what interested me in their whole line-up. And I wouldn’t even mind if Hawaii ends with this season. All bad shows after a bad show on that network last two years.
i so wish someone would bring back American Idol!!!
