Das Album wurde 2008 in denHollywood Hills aufgenommen. Es wurde vonSean Beavan koproduziert, der schon die AlbenAntichrist Superstar,Mechanical Animals undEat Me, Drink Me mixte. Außerdem warenBrian Warner undChris Vrenna als Co-Produzenten beteiligt. Ende März 2009 wurden die ersten Stücke vorgestellt.[1] Die erste SingleArma Goddamn Motherf*ckin' Geddon erschien am 14. Mai 2009. Das Album ist das erste seitHoly Wood (In The Shadow of the Valley of Death) Album mit BassistTwiggy Ramirez.
Die BBC schrieb, das Album biete einen gezielten satirischen Kommentar auf das "ungezogene Amerika": "Best of all is We're From America, where Manson fully lives up to his occasionally over-hyped reputation as an intelligently scabrous lyricist."[2]
