Neil P. Strickland (*1966) ist ein britischer Mathematiker, der sich mitAlgebraischer Topologie beschäftigt.

Strickland wurde 1992 an derUniversity of Manchester beiNigel Ray promoviert (Bott periodicity and Hopf rings).^[1] AlsPost-Doktorand war er Moore-Instructor amMassachusetts Institute of Technology und danach Research Fellow amTrinity College inCambridge. 1998 ging er an dieUniversity of Sheffield, wo er Professor ist.

Strickland befasst sich mit stabilerHomotopietheorie, wobei er Methoden der algebraischen Geometrie (Formale Gruppen) und Kategorientheorie verwendet, sowie mit Kobordismentheorie und elliptischen Spektren (mitMichael J. Hopkins).

2005 erhielt er denWhitehead-Preis für seine Beiträge zuralgebraischen Topologie, insbesondere die Entwicklung und Anwendung der Theorie formaler Gruppen in der Homotopietheorie und auf das Studium elliptischer Kohomologietheorien.^[2]
